Liam Burns is President of the National Union of Students in the United Kingdom. He took office on 1 July 2011, succeeding outgoing President Aaron Porter.[2] Burns stood for NUS President as an independent but is a member of the Labour Party.[1] Burns studied physics at Heriot-Watt University where he was also elected to be student union president. He has also served as President of NUS Scotland.[3] Burns is a supporter of a graduate tax.[1]
